For me, the toughest part of having a skincare routine is finding the right applicator. This is especially hard for liquids such as toners. I tried many different types of cotton pads from various beauty brands and I ended up with drugstore cotton pads out of convenience and pricing.

Every day, I use about 4 pieces of cotton pads to apply my toner. Or sometimes, I even use 5 at once to do a “mask” as an emergency treatment. Recently, I have been on the lookout for something more environmentally friendly which is how I came across GLOV’s Moon Pad.

cotton pad vs moon pad

When I first heard of it, I just had to try this myself simply because this sound waytoo good to be true. A reusable toner applicator and makeup remover pad which can be use with just water? Say what?! My first thought was, “is this just a gimmick?” (Spoiler: it’s not.)

My first impression of GLOV’s Moon Pad is just one word: soft. So soft. It felt like touching cotton candy except your hand doesn’t get disgustingly sticky. As someone who prioritize convenience and lightweight, I can definitely see myself reaching for it while packing for overseas trip. It’s so thin, you can just slot it anywhere in your bag!

I was pleasantly surprised by how well it absorbs my toner! My expectations were low as the Moon Pad is so lightweight and thin, it looks nothing like a cotton pad and there’s no padding inside.

When applying the toner on my skin, it felt even better than on my hands. It felt like I was rubbing my face on a really, really, really soft rug.

Remember when I said it can also function as a makeup remover with just water? Yes, you read it right!

With just the initial swipe, I can tell the difference immediately. I was blown away by how well it removed my makeup without pulling on my skin, which is an added bonus because wrinkles. Duh.

It took me a total of 5 minutes to remove my makeup, how crazy is that?! I love the feeling of removing my makeup after a long day at work. To me, it is the most satisfying feeling on earth. But let’s be honest, the thought of skipping your long, torturous night-time routine to curl up on your bed and watch Netflix is sometimes too tempting to resist.

My daily makeup is fairly simple with just sunblock, bb cream, brows, lips…you know, the usual. Nothing too dramatic and nothing waterproof.

My first experience was too messy as I overestimated how much water the Moon Pad needed. I had to wringed out the excessed water because the water was dripping everywhere. If you look closely, you can see the water droplets dripping down on my face.

On a normal day-to-day basis, I used 4 cotton pad every day to remove my makeup. It even managed to remove my lip stain, which is a feat by itself since the cotton pad drenched with makeup remover can’t even do it.

After using the Moon Pad, I used cotton pads to see if there are any residue left. To my surprise, there was only minimal makeup residue left. Considering the fact that I only used water with the Moon Pad, it was good enough for me.

It only took me 5 minutes to wash off the makeup I had on my Moon Pad. It looked and felt brand new after that. I just aired mine out to dry and it was ready to go the next morning!

Out of ten, I would give this a ten. It exceeded the expectations I had and more. I would definitely recommend this to all the ladies (and gentlemen) out there who are always slightly tempted to go to bed without removing your makeup or skipping your night-time routine. If you want to be more environmentally friendly but don’t know where to start, this is a good baby step for you too.
